The Care You Need -- At Home

When you're recovering from a stay at the hospital or if you have a permanent disability, a terminal illness or a long-term health condition, you may need help with your daily activities. Corona Regional Medical Center's (CRMC) Home Health agency allows you to recuperate in the comfort of your own home -- and maintain your independence -- while providing you with the high-quality medical care you need.

The program is designed to provide a comprehensive, personalized plan of care -- whether for the short-term or the long-term -- and to educate you and your family about your injury or illness and the recovery process. Experienced healthcare professionals come to your home to provide the services you need, from monitoring your daily regimen of medications to assisting with various forms of therapy.

Services Available Through CRMC's Home Health Agency

  • Skilled nursing care, including wound care, IV therapy, medication and pain management and ostomy care
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapies
  • Home-health aides to assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing and eating
  • Social services to help find related community resources
  • Dietary counseling
  • Maternal and newborn care
  • Staff on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week

As a testament to the quality of care offered by CRMC's Home Health agency, it was included in the 2007 HomeCare Elite, a compilation of the most efficient Medicare-certified home healthcare providers in the United States. This achievement indicates it is one of the top home care agencies in the nation.

Patricia Sanders, the Rehabilitation Hospital Administrator on the medical staff at CRMC, is very proud of this recognition. "The agency is well-respected in the community -- and in this competitive industry -- for its high-quality, compassionate and efficient patient care."

Benefits of Home Care

  • Earlier discharge from the hospital or an extended care facility
  • Less expensive alternative to prolonged hospitalization
  • Can often delay the need for nursing home care
  • Nurses continually monitor and assess your improvement and update your physician about your progress
  • Staff coordinates ordering, delivery and set-up of necessary equipment and supplies, so your care remains uninterrupted

Home healthcare services are available to anyone who has a physician's order for intermittent skilled nursing or therapy services. According to recent surveys, close to three-quarters of those who receive home care in the United States are older than age 65 and approximately 65 percent are women. Conditions commonly treated at home are congestive heart failure, heart disease and musculoskeletal system injuries.

Generally, Medicare and MediCal and most private insurance, managed care and Workers' Compensation programs cover home healthcare services.
